ABOUT ME!
Hi! My name is Caroline, and I am a senior at Watkinson School. I am a student leader, an avid runner, and a lover of all things science. While I have been interested in the Global Studies Program since beginning at Watkinson in sixth grade, my interest solidified and grew when I traveled to Nepal in March 2024 to visit family and friends. It was eye-opening to see how the education system in Nepal and the different opportunities offered by public vs. private schools drastically impact the economic status of the country and the stark divide between classes. I don’t think there is a simple solution to any of the world’s problems, but fair and equal education is so important.

Global Issues Project
During my junior year in the Global Studies Program, I completed a project on a global issue of my choice. I wrote a research paper with case studies on the humanitarian issues and repatriation efforts in ISIS detention camps, with a specific focus on foreign women and their children.
Senior Capstone
The senior year in Global Studies is used to enrich learning through a year-long Capstone, where all students are given the opportunity to explore a globally-focused theme, topic, or issue of their choice. The essential question guiding my learning this year is, How do natural disasters impact culture?
