Thesis and Description
How do natural disasters impact culture? My project will explore this topic through the lens of many natural disasters, spanning countries, decades, and governmental responses. Natural disasters included in my research: 2015 Nepal earthquake, 2005 Hurricane Katrina, 2010 Haiti hurricane, and 2025 Hurricane Melissa, among others. I will seek to explore first-hand accounts of these tragedies, contacting and interviewing survivors of natural disasters. For my product, I haven't narrowed down an actual idea, but I want to do something that provokes people to humanize the cultures in different parts of the world, and bring awareness to varying governmental responses to natural disasters.
